Vandals first home meet

The University of Idaho swim and dive team have its first competition this Friday and Saturday at the University of Idaho swim center.

Coach Mark Sowa is excited to see the team in its first competition of the season.

"These last couple of weeks I feel like this team has been chomping at the bits to race," Sowa said. "This will be a great opportunity for us to see where we are at after a month and a half of good training."

Sowa said that this, too, will be a great way to evaluate the freshman of the program.

"We will get to see people in a number of different events and have a blast doing it," he said.

The Black and Gold Intersquad meet begins on Friday at 4 p.m. The first event is the 200 medley relay followed by multiple individual events and ending with the 400 freestyle relay. Saturday's competition begins at 10 a.m. with the 400 medley relay, followed by diving events, and individual swim events. The meet concludes with the 200 freestyle relay.

"It is nice that I can guarantee a Vandal victory." Sowa said.

This will be the first meet of the season before the Vandals take on Colorado State, University of Northern Colorado, and New Mexico State University in two weeks in Fort Collins, Co. and Greeley, Co.
