OGDEN, Utah—The Big Sky Conference announced its Preseason All-Conference selections on Monday. Idaho junior
Geraldine McCorkell was one of six players to be honored by the Big Sky media and sports information directors.
The Melbourne, Australia native, returns as Idaho's top scorer from a year ago. She totaled 11.4 points per game last season, helping Idaho to its first Big Sky Championship since returning to the league. She led the team with 4.1 field goals per game and was third last year with 5.2 rebounds per game.
"I am happy for Geraldine," head coach
Jon Newlee said. "I think she deserves this. I think she will be coming into her own this year. She has looked really good so far. It is time for her to step up and become that kind of player for us."
In two years with the Vandals she has totaled 9.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. She scored her career-high of 24 points last season in Idaho's, 97-65 win over Iowa State. She also snagged a career-high 12 rebounds against the Cyclones.
Tuesday the conference will release its media and coaches' preseason polls.
Idaho's season starts on Nov. 5 with an exhibition against Multnomah.
Idaho will host its media day on Thursday in conjunction with the Big Sky. The event will be streamed online at WatchBigSky.com, beginning at 12 p.m. PT.
