Vandals head Appalachian State

THE RECORDS
Idaho is 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Sun Belt Conference, while Appalachian State is 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Vandals are coming off a 55-23 victory over New Mexico State, while the Mountaineers beat Louisiana-Lafayette 24-0 last Wednesday.
THE COACHES
PAUL PETRINO is in his fourth season at Idaho. While it is his first head coaching job, it is not Petrino's first stint at Idaho. His coaching career began at Carroll College (his alma mater, 1989). From Carroll, he went to Idaho where he coached running back, receivers and special teams from 1992-94. From Idaho it was on to Utah State (1995-97), Louisville (1998-99), Southern Mississippi (2000-02), Louisville (2003-06), Atlanta Falcons (2007), Arkansas (2008-09), Illinois (2010-11) and Arkansas (2012).
SCOTT SATTERFIELD is in his fourth season as head coach at Appalachian State after serving as the Mountaineers offensive coordinator in 2012. He is a graduate of Appalachian State and started his coaching career there as an assistant from 1998-2008. He was quarterbacks coach at Toledo for one season before two years at Florida International (2010-11).
THE SERIES
This is just the third game in the series, which began in 2014 and includes the Mountaineers winning 45-28 at home that year before winning at the Kibbie Dome last season (47-20).
TELEVISION
The game is on ESPN3 with Matt Stewart calling the play-by-play and Forrest Conoly providng the analysis.
2016 CAPTAINS
Captains will be announced weekly. DE Tueni Lupeamanu, QB Matt Linehan, OL Jordan Rose and P/K Austin Rehkow were captains against New Mexico State.
