Learning experience at match play tournament

SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of Idaho women's golf team had its first taste of collegiate match play competition and came away with an understanding of the differences in strategy.

"Match play format was a great learning experience for us," coach Lisa Johnson said. "We can take those lessons to help us prepare for SDSU's big match play event in the spring."

While the Vandals lost 3-2-1 to Seattle University during Sunday's final match, freshman Clara Moyano wrapped up the tournament with a 3-0 record.

"Congrats to Clara," Johnson said. "Clutch. Clutch. Clutch."

Moyano's romped in Sunday's match with a 7&6 decision. Sophomore Michelle Kim had the other victory, while senior Amy Hasenoehrl achieved a tie in her match.
