MOSCOW, Idaho – Championship season is here for Idaho cross country as the Vandals are set to host the 2016 Big Sky Championships at the Idaho Golf Course on Friday morning. The men's race will get underway at 11 a.m., with the women's to follow at 12:15 p.m.
Â
Live results will be available through the championship central page or the link on the right. A live stream through Facebook Live will also be available through the Idaho Track Facebook page.
Â
The Idaho women have been on a tear this season, winning three-of-four meets the team has competed in. Most recently, the Vandals came out on top at the Inland Empire Classic in Lewiston two weeks ago.Â
Kara Story and
Sierra Speiker finished second and third, respectively, as the Vandals finished with 29 points and the win.
Â
Story and Speiker have consistently been Idaho's top runner on the women's side. Each has finished in first on the team twice this season, and neither has finished lower than second on the squad. The Vandals are also incredibly balanced, with several different athletes scoring throughout the year.
Â
The men are also looking to turn some heads on Friday. The Vandals have improved tremendously in 2016 and are getting contributions from a number of young athletes on the roster. Freshman
Grayson Ollar has been Idaho's top performer in each meet, finishing fourth overall at the Inland Empire Classic two weeks ago.
Â
Senior leader
Nathan Stark finished in second on the squad in both of his meets this year. The bulk of the scoring has been done by the underclassmen, however, with sophomores
Dwain Stucker and
Drew Schultz scoring in each meet this season.
