Vandals making their marks

ULL up next

Austin Rehkow and Matt Linehan continue to make their marks on the University of Idaho football record books.

Rehkow, a senior kicker/punter from Spokane Valley, Wash., not only is the Vandals' career punting average leader but he is the historic leader in field goals made (66) and attempted (87), and is tied for first in career percentage (.759). He has moved into fourth on Idaho's all-time scoring list with 296 career points. The only kicker still ahead of him is Thayne Doyle, who scored 307 points from 1988-91.

Linehan, a junior from Michigan, is third in passing average per game (235.4), fifth in attempts (1,037) and completions (625), and sixth in total passing yards (7,395).

Rehkow also is the current NCAA career punting average leader (46.6). He also is the NCAA leader in field goals per game (2.25) and is second in the Sun Belt Conference and ninth nationally in field goal percentage (.900). He is the league leader in total points (72, 26th nationally) and is second in scoring average per game (9.0, 28th nationally).

Linehan is second in the conference and 47th nationally in total passing yards with 1,883 with four regular-season games to go.

Linebacker Tony Lashley, a sophomore from Kansas City, Mo., is tied for the league lead and is ninth nationally in fumble recoveries with two, while Jayshawn Jordan (Seattle) and Kaden Elliss (Salt Lake City) are tied for third in the conference in interceptions with three each (24th nationally).

Kendrick Trotter (Patterson, Calif.) is one of just 36 players to score on a punt return this season and the only Sun Belt player to do so.

As a team, the Vandals continue to be one of the least penalized teams in the conference. They're second in fewest total penalties (39, 18th nationally) and penalties per game (4.88, 21st nationally).

Idaho is coming off its first bye week when it travels to Louisiana-Lafayette, also coming off a bye, when it travels to Louisiana for Saturday's Sun Belt Conference game. Kickoff at Cajun Field is 2 p.m. PT. The Vandals are 4-4 overall (2-2 in the Sun Belt) and the Ragin' Cajuns are 3-4 and 2-2.
