NCAA West Region Championships

XC heads out

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Championship season continues as the Idaho cross country teams make their way to Sacramento for the 2016 NCAA West Region Championship on Friday.  The women's 6k event will begin at 11 a.m., while the men's 10k will follow at 12 p.m.

The race will feature some of the nation's best teams, including several nationally ranked squads on both sides.  The top two teams from each race will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

Both the men and the women had successful showings at the Big Sky Championships in Moscow two weeks ago, with each taking fourth overall.

The women got a tremendous boost from Kara Story who took ninth overall and earned the 2016 Big Sky Freshman of the Year award.  Story was one of Idaho's top competitors in each race this season, finishing in first or second on the team in all five meets.

The men also took fourth, with Tim Delcourt as the first Vandal to cross the finish line.  Freshman phenom Grayson Ollar was close behind, and has finished in the top-two for Idaho in every meet this season.
