SPOKANE, Wash—The Vandals concluded play at the Gonzaga Bulldog Invitational on Sunday. Sophomore
Marianna Petrei swept through the field, going 6-0 in singles and doubles to win both A flights. Idaho also captured the tournament's two other doubles championships, completing the hat-trick.
Petrei, the reigning Big Sky MVP, defeated players from Montana, Eastern Washington to advance to the championship match. She faced Seattle U's Michelle Lui in the finals. Petrei won in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, to with the A flight singles title.

Lucia Badillos swept through the doubles competition to win the A flight doubles championship. The pair advanced to the finals with wins over Eastern Washington and Gonzaga. The Idaho duo shutout Idaho State's Melissa Coburn and Megan Poe, 6-0, to win the top doubles title.
Individually, Badillos had success in the D flight. She took second place with a 2-1 singles record. She advanced to the final match against Gonzaga's Alex Bourguignon, finishing on the short end of the 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 final.
Sophomore
Maria Tavares combined for a 5-1 record on the weekend. She advanced to the finals of the singles B flight with opening wins over Montana and Portland State. She took runner up honors after a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Gonzaga's Nevada Apollo in the finals. Tavares and
Ana Batiri paired up in B flight doubles. The team got a 6-1 win over Idaho State and a 7-5 win over EWU to clinch a spot at the championship. The Vandal pair fought of Gonzaga's duo, 6-4, to claim the title.
Batiri won her first singles match, playing out of the C flight. She took fourth place in the field after falling to Kate Ketels of Gonzaga, 7-5, 6-4, in the third-place match.
Freshman
Shion Watabe continued to have a strong fall season. She took third in the E flight, earning two more singles wins on the season. The newcomer paired with senior
Claire Yang to capture the C flight doubles championship. Yang had her best singles performance of the fall, totaling two wins in the F flight. She fell to Gonzaga's Katie Day, 6-4, 6-3, in the finals.
Idaho closes out the fall season this weekend with another trip up to Gonzaga. The Vandals will play in the Gonzaga Hidden Duel, Nov. 11-13.
