MOSCOW, Idaho – Another cross country season is upon us, as the Idaho cross country team has hit the road for its annual fall camp in Leavenworth, Washington.
Â
The Vandals spend the week together, essentially secluded from the rest of the world. The squad will train hard, but will also spend time working on becoming a team.
Â
Both the men's and women's squads return a good bit of talent from last year's rosters. On the men's side,
Nathan Stark returns for his final season with the silver and gold.Â
Santos Vargas and
Tim Delcourt will also be looking to impress in their senior seasons. Young talent
Skylar Ovnicek and
Levi Wintz are certain to be factors this season, after having impressive freshman campaigns one year ago.
Â
The women's side also features a number of veterans.Â
Ally Ginther,
Valerie Mitchell and
Halie Raudenbush consistently scored for the Vandals last year and are poised to fill the void left by All-Region selection
Kinsey Gomez. Youngsters
Andrea Condie,
McCall Skay and
Krista Story made an immediate impact last season and will be called upon again this year, while
Sierra Speiker will return after missing the second half of last season.
Â
Both squads also bring in talented freshman which will keep the preseason competition fierce.
Â
The season gets started at home on Thursday, September 1, with the Clash of the Inland Northwest. The race will serve as a precursor to the Big Sky Championships, which will also take place on the Idaho Golf Course, on October 28.
