Idaho's freshmen quarterbacks –
Gunnar Amos (redshirt) and
Mason Petrino (true), saw their first collegiate action at Washington Saturday. Amos scored his first collegiate touchdown on a six-yard run in the fourth quarter and Petrino led the Vandal ground game with 48 yards on nine carries (none for a loss).
Senior
Austin Rehkow, the current active NCAA punting leader, averaged 47.4 yards per kick to push his season average to 43.8. That's good enough for second in the Sun Belt and 25
th nationally in week two of the 2016 season.
Rehkow's hang time has enabled the Vandals to lead the Sun Belt in net punting (43.00), which is good for 16
th nationally.
Also grabbing top Sun Belt rankings is senior safety
Russell Siavii, who leads the league and is 11
th in FBS in pass breakups with an average of two per game.

Matt Linehan and senior tight end
Deon Watson also made their way into the top portion of the rankings. Linehan is third in the Sun Belt in yards per completion (11.67) and Watson is fourth in yards per reception (21.6).
As a team, Idaho is the league leader in fewest penalties per game (19
th nationally) and tied for second with fewest total penalties (22
nd nationally).
The Vandals' rush defense is third in the league with 115.5 yards per game and the offensive front is third in tackles for loss allowed.
Idaho is on the road next weekend – but not far. The Vandals take on their second successive Pac-12 opponent when they play at Washington State University. Kickoff is 11 a.m. PT at Martin Stadium.
