SPOKANE, Wash. – After a long week off the Idaho cross country team hits the road to take on Gonzaga in a dual meet on Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m.
Â
The Vandals and Bulldogs met in the season-opening meet, the Clash of the Inland Northwest, two weeks ago. The Vandals dominated on the women's side, finishing with 28 points. The Gonzaga women finished in third with 64 points.
Â
Halie Raudenbush was excellent at the Clash, taking fifth overall with a time of 14:15.6. She crossed the finish line with
Kara Story and just three seconds behind Idaho's leader,
Sierra Speiker. Raudenbush was solid during her junior season last year, scoring for the Vandals in each of the final five meets.
Â
The Idaho men took second two weeks ago in Moscow with 40 points. Gonzaga won on the men's side with 26 points. However, had it been a dual meet the score would have been much closer, with Gonzaga edging out Idaho 23-32.
Â
Grayson Ollar was Idaho's top finished in the opening meet, completing his first collegiate race in 18:41.1. Ollar led the pack of young Vandals that included three freshmen and one sophomore in the top-five. The freshman from Wes Linn, Ore., had a tremendous high school career, finishing in the top-6 at the Oregon State Cross Country Championships during his final two seasons.
