AOMORI, Japan – Former Vandal standout and WAC Player of the Year, Kyle Barone, has signed a new professional contract, this time with the Aomori Wats in Japan.

Barone spent last season with the Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor in the Taiwanese SBL. He appeared in 29 games, averaging 24.4 points and 14.5 rebounds per game.

The Wats finished last season in eighth in the BJ League at 23-29 and will compete in the B League 2 this season. The Wats featured four Americans last season, with the remainder of the roster hailing from Japan.

Barone has spent time with teams across the globe, earning All-Hungarian League Honorable Mention in 2014. He brought his talents to Asia the following year, competing in Japan in 2014-15 and Taiwan in 2015-16.

While with the Vandals, Barone excelled. His 1,433 points are the fifth most in program history, while his 869 rebounds are the second most. He appeared in a program-record 126 games, averaging 11.4 points and 6.9 boards per contest.
