MOSCOW, Idaho – Throughout the 2016-17 season GoVandals.com will be publishing interviews with members of the Idaho women's basketball team. This week we feature junior guard
Bethany Krause.
Krause, a Centerville, Ohio, native, joined the Vandals back in 2014.This season she has moved into a starting role, averaging 19.4 minutes per game. Krause has played in all 16 games for Idaho, matching a career-high. She has 26 points, 41 rebounds and 18 assists, all career-highs.
HOW HAS MOVING INTO THE STARTERS ROLE CHANGED YOUR PREPARATION?
"I have definitely got in the gym more, making sure I am putting up extra shots. That way when the games come around I am more prepared. I have been studying the scouting report a little harder and watching extra film with the coaches. It has helped me be more prepared for my matchups."
HOW DOES THIS YEAR COMPARE WITH PREVIOUS SEASONS?
"This experience has been about the same. We got to go to a lot of cool places my freshman year. We got to travel a lot this year too. Last year we got to play more at home. This year being another travel year was pretty cool. We got to go to Hawaii. I had never been there. Everything else has been pretty much the same."
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN BASKETBALL?
"My older sister started playing when she was in fifth grade. We are three years apart. So when I was in second grade I started playing for the third grade team. I stuck with it and signed up to play for an AAU team when I was nine. I absolutely loved it. Things just continued from there."
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BASKETBALL MEMORY?
"My favorite basketball memory is probably from Reno last year. When Taylor [Pierce] the buzzer beater against Weber State. It was just a crazy shot that I will never forget."
Idaho is back on the road on Thursday at Southern Utah. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. PT.
