PULLMAN, Wash. – Idaho got out to a solid start at the WSU Open on Friday afternoon, winning one event and posting several quality marks.

Kolcie Bates won the weight throw with a toss of 16.56 meters, winning by 0.15 meters.Â
Jonny Magee posted an indoor-best leap of 14.26 meters in the triple jump, finishing third overall.

A trio of Vandals performed well in the triple jump competition.Â
Karina Moreland took third at 11.50 meters, while
Reed Richardson placed fifth with a leap of 10.65 meters.Â
Lauren Curlanis finished sixth with a personal-best jump of 10.35 meters.

Matthew Bauman earned seventh in the weight throw at 14.96 meters, while
Zachary Short finished 16
th with a throw of 12.26 meters.Â
Drew Thompson cleared his first attempt at 3.65 meters in the pole vault and finished ninth.
