OGDEN, Utah- Idaho freshman Valeria Patino was named the Big Sky Women's Golfer of the Week Wednesday. Patino tied for sixth at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, which concluded Tuesday. She fired a 4-under 212 (71-68-73), leading the Vandals to a fourth-place finish in the 16-team field.
 
Patino posted career bests in individual finish (t-6th), total score (212) and score to par (4-under). It is the first time she has finished a tournament under par through the first four events of her career. Her 4-under 68 in the second round was also a career best for single-round scoring, total and to par.
 
The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown was played at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, site of the Big Sky Conference Championship.
 
Patino is the sixth different Idaho student-athlete to be named Big Sky Women's Golfer of the Week in the last two seasons.
 
The Vandals will conclude their fall season next week at the UC Irvine Invitational. The tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday, at Santa Ana Country Club in Santa Ana, Calif.
