Idaho women's swimming and diving continues its season Saturday, in Bakersfield, Calif., with a tri-meet against Hawai'i and Cal State Bakersfield.. The meet is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. PT. The Vandals (2-1) defeated the Roadrunners (2-2) in Moscow last season.
DEPTH AT MIDDLE DISTANCE: Idaho boasts one of the deepest middle-distance groups in the Western Athletic Conference. Three of the top 10 times in the conference belong to Vandals in each the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley. Freshman
Emma Schlyter leads the Idaho contingent in both the 200 free (fifth; 1:54.84) and 500 free (seventh; 5:11.53).
DIVING BACK IN: Idaho's divers will be back in competition after sitting out the last meet. The Vandals took on Seattle two weeks ago in a swimming-only meet as the Redhawks do not sponsor diving. This will mark the first competition for the divers since Oct. 7, at Boise State.
Janelle Lucas led the way the last time out, en route to earning WAC Diver of the Week honors. Lucas earned a pair of wins and two more runner-up finishes Idaho's first two meets of the season. She won the three-meter springboard in the season opener against College of Idaho (Oct. 6), and again a day later against Boise State. She finished second on one-meter at both meets.
LAST TIME OUT: Idaho won 12 events on its way to a 182-78 victory Oct. 14, at Seattle. The Vandals won all but two events in the swimming-only meet. Idaho swept the top three spots in three events. SeniorÂ

Jernigan won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races before closing out her night with a win in the 200-yard individual medley. She also swam the breaststroke leg of the victorious 200-yard medley relay to get the meet started.
