OGDEN, Utah—Idaho outside hitter Kaela Straw was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday. Straw's offensive prowess helped Idaho to a 2-0 weekend with wins at Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

Straw, a junior outside hitter, totaled 43 kills on the weekend, 15 more than the next Vandal. She averaged 4.78 kills per set and hit an impressive .307 percent on the weekend. She opened the weekend with 22 kills in Idaho's 3-1 win at Southern Utah. She posted her third 20+ kill-match on Saturday. Straw led the Vandals with 21 kills in Idaho's 3-2 win over NAU. The junior also led the Vandals with six blocks against the Lumberjacks, giving her eight on the weekend.

Overall, Straw ranks third in the league in kill average (3.67 kills/s). In conference play, Straw's kill average of 4.19 kills/s ranks second in the Big Sky. Straw also leads all Big Sky juniors in that statistic.

This is the first weekly award of Straw's career. The honor is Idaho's second this season. Alycia Wodke earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 25. 

The Vandals are 5-1 in the Big Sky and sit atop the north division. Idaho has won three straight matches, finishing the previous road trip 3-1. The team returns home this week to open a four-match homestand. Idaho will host Weber State at 7 p.m. PT on Thursday.
