RESULTS
SEATTLE, Wash. – It was a great race day for Idaho cross country competing at the NCAA West Regional, with the men placing 12
th and the women taking 14
th on Friday morning.
"I thought it was a great day for the Vandals," said director of track and field/cross country
Tim Cawley. "Both teams came out and ran strong, ran well as a team. I couldn't be more proud of both teams. Travis has done a great job of getting these teams ready and in the right position to peak at the right time of the year. The program's moving forward."
The men took 12
th in a 30-team field, an incredible improvement from last year, and finished ahead of all three other Big Sky schools in attendance. The women placed 14
th overall out of 36 teams, one spot ahead of local rival Washington State and also ahead of all three other Big Sky opponents.
"The men's side did incredible, moving from 21
st last year all the way up to 12
th this year," Cawley added. "It was just a fantastic performance, hung in there, ran really well as a team and fought all the way to the finish.
Tim Delcourt on the end there, to finish his career as the top Vandal, running a beautiful race. The women's side ran fantastic as well. They gave it everything they had. They ran really solid, fought all the way through the finish."
Tim Delcourt was Idaho's top male runner on Friday, finishing the 10k course in 30:41.6 to finish 51s overall.
Dwain Stucker and
Grayson Ollar, two other athletes that led the Vandals at some point this year, placed 60
th and 67
th, respectively. Stucker finished with a time of 30:50.2, while Ollar went 31:01.1.
Drew Schultz took 75
th with a time of 31:07.8 and
Fabian Cardenas placed 94
th at 31:26.0 to round out the scorers.
Andrea Condie led the way for the women, completing the 6k course in 20:44.6 to place 45
th overall.
Kara Story and
Krista Story were Idaho's next two finishers in 71
st and 72
nd.
Kara Story finished with a time of 21:07.5, while
Krista Story was right behind at 21:07.6.
Maizy Brewer scored for the Vandals in 87
th overall at 21:25.7, while
Sierra Speiker took fifth for Idaho and 121
st overall with a time of 21:54.7.
