OGDEN, Utah—The Big Sky Conference announced its final Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday. Idaho junior
DeVonne Ryter was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week to close the season.
Ryter, a junior middle blocker from Sedona, Ariz., posted back-to-back matches with career-highs in blocks last week for Idaho. She opened on Thursday with 10 kills and eight total blocks at Montana, helping Idaho to a five-set win over the Lady Griz. She repeated her performance on Saturday, again totaling eight blocks, leading Idaho to a sweep of Montana and a share of the Big Sky's North Division title.
Ryter is the fourth Vandal to pick up a Player of the Week honor this season. It is her first weekly award of her career.
Sarah Sharp,
Kaela Straw and
Alycia Wodke all earned conference honors throughout the season.
Idaho, the No. 3 seed in this week's Big Sky Tournament, will take on No. 6 Idaho State on Thursday in Sacramento, Calif. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. PT start.
