SCHEDULE
MOSCOW, Idaho – The indoor track and field season is right around the corner for Idaho, with director of track and field/cross country
Tim Cawley announcing the full schedule today. Idaho will compete in Moscow four times in 2018.
The indoor season will predominantly stay in the Pacific Northwest, with three meets on the Palouse and three meets in Seattle. The season opens up with the Vandal Invitational and Multi Events on Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 13. The following weekend sees the Vandals across the border in Pullman for the WSU Indoor Open, before heading out to Seattle for the UW Invitational to close out January.
Idaho returns home for the Idaho Duals on Friday, February 2. Last year's Duals were a huge success, with four Big Sky teams competing in what has become one of the top regular season meets of the year. Idaho closes out the regular season with two meets in Seattle ahead of the Big Sky Championships in Flagstaff from February 22-24.
The Vandals will enjoy a month off ahead of the outdoor season, beginning with the Sam Adams Classic from March 22-23 in Spokane. Select athletes will then make the trip to California for the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in the last week in March.
Also at the end of March is the University of Idaho Invitational, on March 31. The Vandals will get their first opportunity to compete at home ahead of the Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Moscow in early May. A series of other challenging meets lies between Idaho and the Championships, with the WAR (April 6-7, Spokane, Wash.), the Triton Invitational (April 13-14, San Diego, Calif.), Spokane Memorial Series (April 20-21) and the OSU High Performance Meet (April 27-28, Corvallis, Ore.). Idaho closes out the regular season at the Tom Cage Classic in Missoula on May 4.
The entire Big Sky will make its way to Moscow for the Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships from May 8-11. The Vandals have continued to improve in the conference since rejoining the Big Sky three seasons ago and are poised for another great season.
The NCAA Championships First Round will take place in late May in Sacramento, with the NCAA Championships following two weeks later in Eugene, Ore.
Last year, Idaho sent five athletes to the NCAA Championships First Round, with
Rechelle Meade competing in a pair of events.
