ANCHORAGE, Alaska – After leading the Vandals to a third-place finish at the 40^th GCI Great Alaska Shootout over the weekend, the starting backcourt of Perrion Callandret and Victor Sanders were recognized as all-tournament selections.
 
Both were tremendous for Idaho all week as the Vandals finished 2-1 with wins over Santa Clara and Cal Poly.  Sanders led the squad in scoring at 22 points per game, shooting 51 percent (19-of-37) from the floor, 57 percent (12-of-21) from beyond the arc and 89 percent (16-of-18) from the line.  His 12 3-pointers were tied for the 10^th most in a single tournament in Shootout history.
 
Callandret filled up the box score averaging 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.  He also shot an incredible percentage, connecting on 17-of-30 (56.7%) from the field and 9-of-14 (64.3%) from range.  Callandret was lights-out against Santa Clara in the opening round win, tying a school record by going 5-of-5 from beyond the arc.
 
Idaho opened with a come-from-behind win over Santa Clara in the opening round on Wednesday.  The Vandals trailed late, but scored the game's final 14 points to take the 69-59 win.  Friday's semifinal was one for the ages, with Bakersfield draining a game-winning 3-pointer with two seconds on the clock.  The Vandals responded to win their third-place game over Cal Poly, 75-66, on Saturday night.
 
The action heats up for Idaho with a trip to Nicholls State on Sunday, December 3.  After that comes the annual Battle of the Palouse with Washington State, the longest continuously running college basketball rivalry outside of the Ivy League.
