MOSCOW, Idaho
– The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is thrilled to announce the signing of Anna Pecha of Central Valley High School in Veradale, Wash. Pecha has established herself as one of the best middle distance runners in the state of Washington and in the Pacific Northwest during her high school career.

Pecha has twice finished third in the Washington State Championship meet in the 800m. She is the school record holder in the event at her high school, with a personal best of 2:12.91. Last season Pecha also placed at the state meet in the 400m, finishing in fifth place. She has a personal best of 58.35 in the 400m. Pecha has run a leg on two 4 x 400m relay teams that have placed second and third at the state championships in 2016 and 2017. She has also run on the cross country team during both her junior and senior seasons. She transitioned from playing soccer to running cross country and focusing on track & field.

Pecha is an honor roll student, is on the leadership team and was selected to play the violin in the sympathy orchestra at Central Valley High School.

"We are excited to welcome Anna to the Vandal family! She is just starting to come into her own and has a big upside. She is also a triple threat with character, academics, and athletics, which will fit in fantastic with our team." -Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
