OGDEN, Utah—Idaho senior
Geraldine McCorkell continued to be recognized for her stellar performances at this past weekend's Warner Center Marriott Thanksgiving Classic. The Big Sky Conference named McCorkell its Player of the Week on Tuesday, following her All-Tournament selection at the conclusion of the weekend.
McCorkell, a Melbourne, Australia, native, helped Idaho to a 1-1 weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Vandals posted an 80-75 win over host CSUN last Friday, advancing to the championship game against TCU.
The senior post led Idaho with 23.5 points, and nine rebounds per game last week. She opened with a season-high 25 points against the Matadors, shooting 66.6 percent (10-15) from the field. McCorkell followed up with her first double-double of the season against the Horned Frogs. She recorded 22 points and snatched 12 rebounds to cap her tournament.
McCorkell is tied for third in the Big Sky in scoring (19.2), fifth in field goal percentage (52.9%) and ninth in rebounding (7.2) so far this season.Â
The conference honor marks the second of her career. She was also named CollegeSportsMadness.com's Big Sky Player of the Week on Monday.
The Vandals return home to Memorial Gym on Friday for their home-opener. Idaho will host Washington at 6 p.m. PT. Fans in attendance will receive a rally towel while supplies last.
