SEATTLE, Wash. – Championship season is in full swing for Idaho cross country, with the Vandals heading out to the NCAA West Region Championship on Friday. The women's 6k race begins at 10:30 a.m., while the men's 10k race will start at 11:30 a.m.
Idaho was outstanding at the Big Sky Championships two weeks ago. The women improved their standing from a season ago, jumping up to third overall among a very challenging field. Krista Story was the top runner for the Vandals, finishing seventh overall.
The men also improved from a year ago. The men finished fourth with 123 points, a 40-point improvement on last year, behind a pair of nationally ranked opponents. Dwain Stucker took first for Idaho, finishing 18
th overall.
Idaho was solid at last year's West Regional, with the women finishing 13
th out of 35 teams and the men placing 21
st. Kara Story led the way for the women, while Grayson Ollar was the men's top runner. Both will be back in the Silver and Gold on Friday.
