Big Sky Championships Underway

Pair of Vandals compete in multis on Thursday

Day 1 Results | Heptathlon | Pentathlon
 
POCATELLO, Idaho – A pair of Vandals got competition underway at the 2017 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Idaho State.
 
Drew Thompson currently sits in sixth in the heptathlon with 2754 points.  Thompson's best finish on the day came in the 60-meters, where he took 4th overall with a time of 7.18 seconds.  He also finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.88 meters and ninth in the shot put at 11.27 meters.
 
Silke Berendse finished 16th in the pentathlon with 2831 points.  The freshman experienced the collegiate pentathlon for the first time, setting one personal best and competing in another event for the first time in college.  Berendse threw 7.99 meters in the shot put, her best toss in college.  She also finished 10th in the 800-meters at 2:33.79, her first time in the event as a Vandal.
 
The heptathlon concludes on Friday.  Individual events also begin on Friday, with live streaming available at WatchBigSky.com.
