Sophie Hausmann fired a closing-round 65 Thursday to capture medalist honors at The Gold Rush and help lead the University of Idaho women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Old Ranch Club.

Lisa Johnson after Hausmann broke the Old Ranch Club 18-hole record with her 65 and The Gold Rush record with her 12-under total.
So, too, did her teammates, who responded to Hausmann's Tuesday morning team challenge: to make 15 birdies. They managed 13 but as a team the Vandals were two-under for the day.
Included in Hausmann's seven-under final round were an eagle 3 on the 473-yard par-5 sixth and six birdies. She opened the tournament with a two-under 70 and followed with a three-under 69 before finishing at 12-under for her second victory of her collegiate career.
