Carroll Earns BSC Recognition

Male Field Athlete of the Week

OGDEN, Utah – After improving upon his personal-best in the long jump, junior Arphaxad Carroll has been named the Big Sky Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week.

Carroll won the long jump competition at the Idaho Duals with a leap of 7.54 meters, a new personal-best.  He needed every jump to count on Friday, taking first in the event on his final attempt.  Already ranked atop the Big Sky in the event, the jump moves Carroll into 32nd in the nation.

Carroll also excelled on the track, winning the 60-meters with a time of 6.94 seconds, the ninth best time in the conference this season.

Carroll won the long jump at the 2016 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships and went on to earn All-America honors in the event at the NCAA Championships.

The Vandals will compete in the Husky Classic this weekend, the final regular season meet of the indoor year.  The Big Sky Championships take place in Pocatello, Idaho, from February 23-25.
