@IdahoWTennis Back in Action

LAS VEGAS--The Vandal women's tennis team is back on the road this week, playing three matches the City of Lights. Idaho opens UNLV on Thursday, before a pair of matches against Youngstown State and Southern Utah on Saturday. 

Idaho (2-1, 1-0 BSC) is coming off a 2-0 week last week in Portland. The Vandals picked up its first two wins of the season against Portland and Portland State. Sophomore Marianna Petrei went 2-0 in the No. 1 singles position, seeing her first action of the season. She was recognized as the Big Sky Player of the week on Wednesday for her efforts. Freshman Jessica Brzozowska also has two wins on the season. Brzozowska, who joined the team in January, has played to a 2-1 record in the No. 3 slot. 

UNLV enters the match with a 3-1 record. The Rebels have wins over New Mexico State, Pacific and Arkansas. Their lone loss came to No. 3 Pepperdine. UNLV's Carol Zi Yang moves up from No. 48 to No. 24 in the ITA singles rankings. The Rebels have three players ranked in the top 20 of the Mountain Region, led by Yang at No. 2. She and teammate Aiwen Zhu are also tied for eighth in the region's doubles rankings. 

Youngstown State is also 3-1 this season. They have wins over Eastern Michigan, Niagara and Saint Francis (Pa.). Southern Utah checks in at 1-1 this season. They opened with a win over Lewis Clark State College and a tight loss to Utah State.
