LEWISTON, Idaho—The Vandal women's tennis team showed little signs of rust on Saturday. Idaho defeated former WAC rival Seattle U, 7-0, returning to the courts after a two week break in the schedule.

Idaho (9-5) was successful early and often against the Redhawks. The Vandals took the doubles point for the third consecutive match. Marianna Petrei and Lucia Badillos clinched the point for the Vandals. The duo scored a 6-2 decision at No. 1, its 10th win as a paring this season.    

Freshman Jessica Brzozowska earned Idaho's first singles win of the day. She dropped just one game in the match, taking No. 2 play 6-0, 6-1. Maria Tavares followed suit at No. 4 with a 7-5, 6-1 showing. Badillos wrapped up the win for the Vandals. She battled back at No. 3 to come from behind for the clincher. Badillos fell 6-3 to open, but won the final two sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Petrei also suffered a rare loss in her first set. She got down 6-2 to Michelle Lui at No.1, marking just her fourth dropped set of the season. The Italian sophomore came back 6-3, 6-2, earning her eighth consecutive win.

Ana Batiri and Claire Yang completed the sweep for the Vandals. Batiri picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5. Yang concluded the day with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at No. 6.

The Vandals move back into Big Sky play against Sacramento State on April 1. The match is scheduled to be played at the Memorial Gym courts, providing playable weather conditions.
