CHENEY, Wash. – The outdoor season is picking up for Idaho track and field, this week taking on the 45
th Annual Pelluer Invitational hosted by Eastern Washington University.
Idaho had a handful of personal-bests on the day, with a number of athletes moving up the Big Sky rankings.
Jonny Magee won an uncontested triple jump competition with a personal-best jump of 14.84 meters (47-6.25). The jump moves Magee into fourth in the Big Sky in the event.
Zachary Short dominated in the shot put at 17.27 meters (56-8.00), the fourth best throw in the conference this year.
Kasin Pendergrass-Anderson posted a season-best leap of 7.12 meters (23-4.50) in the long jump, finishing second and moving into sixth in the Big Sky so far this season.
Matthew Bauman moved up in the Big Sky rankings in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.00 meters (173-11), taking second.
In the long jump,
Rechelle Meade earned the individual victory with an outdoor season-best performance of 5.85 meters. The jump ties Meade for the second best leap in the conference this season.
Several other athletes took home individual wins.
Rikki McCaw won the 200-meters (21.11 seconds),
Kaizer Gillispie the 400-meters (49.64 seconds) and
Ben Doucette the 110-meter hurdles (14.84 seconds). On the women's side,
Maddy Dustin finished first in the 100-meter dash (12.93 seconds) and
Kolcie Bates won the hammer throw (50.45 meters). The 4x100-meter relay team of Meade,
Nicole Carter,
Jordyn Rauer and
Karina Moreland won the event with a time of 48.48 seconds.
