FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—Northern Arizona prevailed in the battle of Big Sky unbeatens on Sunday. NAU edged Idaho 4-3, handing Idaho its first league loss.

The loss dropped Idaho to 6-1 in conference play with four Big Sky matches left on the slate. The Vandals sit third in the conference behind Northern Arizona (8-0) and Montana State (7-0).

The Lumberjacks gained the early 1-0 advantage, taking two of the three doubles matches to open play. Jessica Brzozowska and Claire Yang claimed Idaho's win at No. 3, giving each side a win. NAU took the point with its 7-5 win at No. 2.

Idaho found itself in a 3-0 hole after a pair losses at the start of singles play. Marianna Petrei continued to plow her way through the Big Sky opposition. She won her 17th straight league match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1. Lucia Badillos drew Idaho back to within one with her 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3.

NAU was able to clinch the match on the No. 2 court. Chiara Tomasetti defeated Brzozowska 6-1, 7-5 before Maria Tavares was able to score her 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-5 win at No. 4.

The Vandals remain on the road next week, traveling to Idaho State on April 14. Idaho will then head to Weber State on the 15th.
