SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Day one of the decathlon at the 2017 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships is complete, with Idaho's
Drew Thompson currently in 10
th through five events. Thompson has 3370 points and is well within striking distance with five events to go on Thursday.
His best finish came in the high jump, where he cleared 1.88 meters (6-2.00) to earn a tie for fifth.
Thompson finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 11.62 meters (38-1.50). He won his heat in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.33 seconds, finishing eighth overall out of 18 competitors.
He took 14
th in the long jump at 6.22 meters (20-5.00) and the 400-meters with a time of 53.35 seconds, both season-bests.
