Five questions with Chad Sherwood

MOSCOW, Idaho –
GoVandals.com is back with the latest edition of the @VandalHoops Hotseat, featuring senior guard Chad Sherwood.

The Albany, Ore., native started 25 games in 2016-17, and finished fifth on the team at 6.3 points per game.  The older Sherwood was also one of the top shooters in the league, knocking down 46 3's and shooting at nearly 91 percent from the charity stripe.

WHY IDAHO?
Obviously basketball was a huge reason.  Growing up I always wanted to play college basketball and when coach gave me the chance to come play here I took that immediately.  Then, you know, my brother followed me here and that has made it great.  Playing with him, all the way back before high school to now, it's been great.  I have one more year with him and the squad and hopefully it'll be a good one.

HOW DO YOU SETTLE INTO YOUR EVER-CHANGING ROLE WITH THE TEAM?
Honestly, it comes down to winning.  Vic is our go-to guy, we know that.  He's our go-player.  If he's going and he's getting to the bucket and he's scoring we just let him roll.   I'm out there to space the floor and if they do key in on him, or my guy drops down, I know I'm there and I can knock down the shot.

WHAT'S IT LIKE GOING SHOT-FOR-SHOT WITH VIC?
It's fun.  When we go and Vic's hitting a couple you know you're about to get your share too.  Once he hits a couple in a row they're going to start keying in on him, and that's when he gets his assists.  Playing off Vic, and playing with Vic, it makes it easier.  It's awesome.

TEAM GOALS IN 2017-18?
Simple.  Win the championship.  Win the Big Sky Championship and go to the Tournament.  That's the main goal.  How we get there, we don't care.  Who makes the shots doesn't matter.  We just want to get there.

INDIVIDUAL GOALS IN 2017-18?
Like I said, I'm out there to space the floor and play defense, so I'm going to do what I can to make my shots.  I've been working in the offseason to do what I can to get better.  I'm just looking to shoot a good percentage, play good defense and do what coach asks me to do.

**BONUS**

ALREADY WRAPPED UP THE DEGREE, WHAT'S NEXT?
I graduated with an organizational sciences degree and I'm working on my master's in Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership right now.  I have about nine credits done and I'll hopefully finish next year.  I'm looking forward to getting my master's.
