This summer, GoVandals.com will be taking a deeper look into the worlds of its athletes with the Vandal Tribune.  Stay tuned all summer to hear directly from some of your favorite Vandals.

Senior guard Victor Sanders took a major step forward in 2016-17, upping his scoring to 20.9 points per contest, the fourth highest average in the Big Sky.  It wasn't just his scoring that jumped, however, as he also saw a spike in his assist, rebound and steal totals as he transitioned to the point guard position.  Sanders spent the spring entertaining the NBA dream, working out with a handful of teams during the draft process.  He chose to return for his senior season with the Vandals, one that is already shaping up to be one for the record books.

IT WAS A BUSINESS TRIP.

It was a good experience.  It was kind of like China, being able to gage myself on the talent level and where I'm at, as far as the NBA.  I got some feedback, it was positive.  I need to get a little stronger, get my body ready, but other than that offensively it felt second nature.

I FELT COMFORTABLE.

There were six guys.  We did 3-on-3, 1-on-1, 2-on-2, some shooting and a couple drills.  We tested the vertical leap, height, weight.  There was some cone work, ball handling, situational drills, stuff like that.

BASICALLY IT WAS THE COMBINE.

It helped a lot because it gave me a different perspective on what I need to do as a player to make myself better.

And I think that by making myself better I CAN HELP THE TEAM MORE and in different ways.

It was an eye opener, and I have to relay that news to the team.  If you want to go to the next level, if you get blessed with the opportunity to go tryout, this is what to expect.  Especially for the young guys, this is what they have coming.

But I'm ready for the year.

I THINK WE'RE READY TO COMPETE FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP.

We're working hard in the weight room, off the court and on the court, nutrition, we're doing everything we need to do.

Plus, we have six seniors.

AND WE'RE HUNGRY.
