Peterson, Stark Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards

Recognized by the Big Sky for academic excellence

OGDEN, Utah – Katelyn Peterson and Nathan Stark of the Idaho track and field/cross country teams have been recognized by the Big Sky Conference as this year's recipients of the Scholar Athlete Awards.

Peterson and Stark wrapped up their incredible careers with the Vandals this past year.  Peterson, a multi-sport athlete, competed for the volleyball team in the fall during her first four years in Moscow but had exhausted her eligibility and focused exclusively on track and field in 2016-17.  Stark saved his best outdoor track season for his last, advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships First Round in the steeplechase.

Both athletes had already previously completed their undergraduate degrees and are working on their master's degrees.

To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade-point-average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale), be a member of the graduating class and/or have completed their last year of intercollegiate athletic eligibility, have completed at least two years of intercollegiate competition and be a letterwinner in their respective sport.  Member institutions of the Big Sky Conference are each awarded a male and female recipient based on both academic and athletic achievement.
