MOSCOW, Idaho—Idaho head coach
Debbie Buchanan added two new additions to the 2017 roster on Wednesday.
Kristin Williams (Pendleton, Ore./Blue Mountain CC) and
Donnèe Janzen (Surrey, B.C./ Elgin Secondary) will report with the rest of the team in the fall.
"I am excited that our roster is finalized for the fall with the additions of Kristin and Donnèe," Buchanan noted. "We are looking forward to having all our new additions join us as we begin to work towards the season."
Williams, a 6-3 middle blocker, began her collegiate career at Blue Mountain Community College. She led the Timberwolves with 77 total blocks in 2016. Williams averaged a team-high 2.65 kills per set. She also led Blue Mountain with a .269 hitting percentage. Williams helped lead Blue Mountain to a 25-17 overall record. Blue Mountain won the North West Athletic Conference in 2015. Williams was voted the conference tournament MVP. She was a First Team All-American as well as the Baden Player of the Year in her first season.
"Kristin has a lot of upside and experience transferring in from Blue Mountain CC," Buchanan said. "She will allow us to have more depth in the middle position this season."
Janzen, a 5-11 setter, comes to Idaho after a successful high school and club career in her native British Columbia. Janzen helped Team Academy to back-to-back national championships in 2016 and 2017. She won the 2016 Provincial MVP, leading her team to a silver medal. Janzen was the Elgin Park Secondary Athlete of the Year from 2014-2016.
"Donnèe has had a lot of success running her offense with her high school and club team," Buchanan added. "Her skill set will fit in nicely with our offensive scheme here at Idaho."
The two additions round out the 2017 roster, joining previously announced newcomers
Reece Carman,
Nicole Ball,
Rachel Mills and
Alycia Wodke.
