MOSCOW, Idaho – The 2017 season is just a few short days away, with Idaho cross country opening up at the Clash of the Inland Northwest in Missoula on Friday.
The Vandals are poised for an excellent year, returning most of their scorers from last year's squads that both finished fourth at the Big Sky Championships, held in Moscow. The women will be led by reigning Freshman of the Year,
Kara Story, who finished ninth overall at last year's Championships. The Vandals return four of their five scorers from las year's meet, and also bring back
Krista Story who missed the majority of the season due to injury.
The men also return a lot of talent from last year's team, including three scorers from the conference meet.
Tim Delcourt led the way for Idaho at the Championships, while
Grayson Ollar was Idaho's top performer at nearly every meet.
The men were picked to finish fourth in this year's coaches' poll. The women were picked fifth, but are also ranked 13
th in the preseason USTFCCCA rankings.
The season gets started on Friday, with the Vandals racing every other weekend until the Big Sky Championships on October 28 in Ogden, Utah.
