MOSCOW, Idaho
– Fall camp is going strong for Idaho soccer, with the Vandals holding their first scrimmage of the year on Sunday.

"It was good, we saw a lot of really good things today," said head coach Derek Pittman.  "I feel that the things we've been working on over the past five days, we started to implement some of our defensive philosophies as well as our attacking principles, really came out today.  After our first five days this coaching staff is really happy."

The move to the Kibbie Dome has been exceptional thus far.  Pittman and his staff have seen a lot of promise so far in camp.

"I thought our veterans did a good job," Pittman said.  "I thought Mak (Makayla Presgrave) looked great in goal.  She calmed things down and made the saves that she needed to make.  I thought Kelly Dopke looked good at center back, as always.  We can always depend on her to be a rock back there.  Same way, I thought Megan Goo played solid, Malia Morales as well.  Olivia Baggerly got loose a couple times and hit some quality shots.  And even Bridget Daley, a new player that's coming into our system since last January, is doing an awesome job.  All-in-all, I'm really happy with where we are at this stage of preseason camp."

Next up, the squad heads up to Coeur d'Alene for its annual team trip.  Idaho will host its second scrimmage of the year on Tuesday at NIC at 5:30 p.m. before returning home.

"This is now the fourth year in a row that we've done this," said Pittman.  "It's a really important piece of our preseason camp.  We implement some things, soccer-wise, but it's important that they continue to grow and develop and get closer as a team.  Our chemistry is very important for us and this is an opportunity for us to be able to go to North Idaho College and be able to enjoy the lake up there in Coeur d'Alene and have some fun."
