Idaho women's golf opens its 2017-18 season Monday and Tuesday, at the WSU Cougar Cup in Pullman, Wash. The tournament will start with 36 holes Monday, and conclude with an 18-hold round Tuesday. Idaho won the the WSU Cougar Cup last season.
THE LINEUP: Idaho will be represented by
Sophie Hausmann,
Michelle Kim,
Kendall Gray,
Laura Gerner and
Valeria Patino. Two more Vandals,
Danika Palm and
Grace Frazier, will take the course as individuals. Hausmann led Idaho to the team victory at this tournament last season. She shot a 213 (73-71-69) to tie for second place individually.Â
THE COURSE: Palouse Ridge Golf Club is located on the campus of Washington State University and was the host for the 2015 Men's Pac-12 Golf Championships. The 7,308-yard track will play at par 71. Teams will play 36 holes Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m. The course, which opened in Aug. 2008, was named to Golfweek's Top College Courses list in 2014 and 2015.
THE FIELD: Idaho is part of an eight-team field, including host Washington State, CSU-Fullerton, Idaho State, Montana State, OKCU, Sacramento State, Seattle, and UBC.

A LOOK BACK: Idaho fell just short of repeating as Big Sky Conference champions last season. The Vandals rallied to tie Sacramento State through 54 holes, but the Hornets prevailed on a playoff hole.
Sophie Hausmann was the individual runner-up last season, and is back for her junior year.
