Marin Earns Top-15 Finish

The Vandals moved up to 15th in the team standings

ERIE, Colo.- Idaho men's golf jumped up one spot on the final day to finish 15th at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. Junior Enrique Marin continued his steady play, finishing in a tie for 14th individually at 4-under (69-72-71=212).

The Vandals used a tightly-bunched team round Tuesday, to shoot 4-over 292 in the final round. All four countable scores were between 71 and 74.

"I was pleased with our progression this week," said head coach David Nuhn. "This was a long course suits our strengths as a team a bit better. Our players are long-ball hitters. At 7,700 yards, this is probably the longest course we've ever seen as a team."

Marin has posted Idaho's best score in each of the last seven rounds. He was at or under par in each round. The 4-under total for the tournament is Marin's best score to par of his career. The 212 total score is also a career best.

"Enrique has really worked on his game and it's paying dividends," said Nuhn. "I'm very proud of another great performance from him. He is so steady and just takes what the golf course gives him. He does a great job of getting it around and making shots when he has the opportunity."

Sophomore Hayden Ritter was on Marin's heels this week. Ritter shot a 2-over 218 (71-73-74) to post the second best score for the Vandals.

Idaho will return to action Oct. 14 and 15, at the Southern Dunes Invitational in Phoenix.
