MOSCOW, Idaho –
Friday marks the official start of the 2018 track and field indoor season with Idaho Track and Field competing at the Vandal Indoor Invitational. The multi-events will begin Friday, while the individual field events are set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

ABOUT THE VANDALS: The individual events set to start on Saturday will feature some of Idaho's top performers from last season. Big Sky Indoor & Outdoor Championships Freshman of the Year Rechelle Meade will be competing. Meade finished 3rd in both the long jump and the high jump at the 2017 Big Sky Indoor Championships, and finished 2nd in both events at the 2017 Big Sky Outdoor Championships where she posted personal bests in each event. She went on to compete at the NCAA Championships First Round in Austin, Texas.
 
The men's side returns a number of athletes who competed at the 2017 NCAA Championships First Round in Austin. Big Sky conference champions Kaizer Gillispie and Mack Baxter will be competing at the invitational. Gillispie won the 400-meters at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in 2017, finishing with a personal best of 46.52 seconds. Baxter won the 400-meter hurdles at the 2017 Big Sky Outdoor Championships, running in 52.64 seconds.
 
Sophomore Ben Doucette will compete after placing 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2017 Big Sky Outdoor Championships, finishing with a personal best 14.17 seconds. Doucette also won the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best of 7.96 seconds at the Big Sky Indoor Championships in 2017.
 
A number of local teams will be competing, including local Big Sky rival Eastern Washington. Portland State, Gonzaga, Lewis-Clark State and Spokane CC will also be competing at the invitational.
