SEATTLE, Wash.- The Vandals are set to compete at the UW Invitational this weekend. Friday's action begins at 4 p.m. with the 3k, followed by the 200-meters. Events continue on Saturday with running events starting at 9 a.m. and field events at 10 a.m.
ABOUT THE VANDALS- Several Vandal athletes are set to make their season debuts at the invitational, including some of Idaho's top distance runners.
Top cross-country runners
Grayson Ollar and
Dwain Stucker are set to compete in the 5000-meter run. This will be their first meet of the indoor season. The two competed at the NCAA West Regional for Idaho cross-country, and are looking to start their 2018 track seasons in style.
Andrea Condie and
Kara Story are also coming off successful cross-country campaigns with the Vandals, and will be competing in their first indoor meets this season. Condie will run in the 5k and Story will be running in the 3000-meters.
Idaho's top long jumper,
Rechelle Meade, is set to compete in the event this weekend. She opened the indoor season with a school record jump of 6.17 meters.
Kasin Pendergrass-Anderson will also be competing in the event. Both Meade and Pendergrass-Anderson are the top long jumpers in the Big Sky Conference this season.
Ben Doucette and
Mack Baxter will be running in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday. Doucette holds the third fastest time in the Big Sky Conference this season. Baxter will also be competing in the 400-meters, his best time currently ranks eighth in the conference.
Kaleala Bass and teammate Malina Thacker are scheduled to run in the 800-meters. Bass opened the indoor season with a personal-best time in the event. Her time of 2:15.03 ranks her seventh in the Big Sky standings.
