Ferenz Scores Third Big Sky Honor of the Season

The Idaho junior set the Big Sky record for single-season 3's

02/20/2018

OGDEN, Utah—Junior Mikayla Ferenz shot her way into the Big Sky record books last week, setting the single-season record for 3-pointers with 100. The conference rewarded her with her third Player of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday.

Ferenz continued her outstanding season last week, helping Idaho extend its win streak to nine games. The Idaho guard averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists as the Vandals went on the road and defeated both Montana State and Montana. It was the first time since the 1984-85 season the Vandals have beat both Montana schools in the same season.

Ferenz led Idaho with 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists at Montana State. She shot 9-of-13 from the field and hit seven 3's. She and teammate Taylor Pierce each reached 94 3's on the season, marking an Idaho program record.

Ferenz continued to add to the Idaho single-season record Saturday at Montana. She hit six more 3's, helping her to 24 points. She passed Pierce, who set the Big Sky single-season record (99) earlier in the game.

The award is the fifth of her career.

The junior from Walla Walla, Wash., leads the Big Sky and ranks sixth in the NCAA with 22.8 points per game. She's also second in the nation averaging 4.00 3's per game.

Idaho is set to conclude its home schedule this week. The Vandals will matchup against Idaho State on Thursday (6 p.m.) and Weber State on Saturday (2 p.m.). Both games will be at Memorial Gym.
