LAS VEGAS- Idaho women's golf sits in 11th place after the opening two rounds of the Rebel Beach Monday, at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas. The Vandals finished the day 45-over (621), after navigating the difficult course to shoot 15-over (303) in the first round but succumbing to strong winds in the second round and shooting 30-over (318).
Â
"We weren't prepared," said head coach
Lisa Johnson. "We did not get good enough numbers at our practice round and we didn't adjust quickly enough to the changing conditions. We're a lot better team than we showed today and we know that. We're ready to prove it tomorrow."
Â
The final round of the tournament is set for Tuesday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. PT. Co-host UNLV leads the tournament.
Â
Laura Gerner leads Idaho through two rounds. Gerner shot a first-round 73 for the low round by a Vandal on the day. She finished at 11-over 155 through two.
Â
"Laura played well," Johnson said. "I am really proud of her in her first time out this spring. She putted really well. The rest of us didn't match the line with the speed all day."
