MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho track and field is splitting the squad up this weekend, sending student-athletes to three separate meets. Two groups will head to California, for the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, while another will compete in the Al Manuel Northwest Invite at Montana.
Competition at the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State Distance Carnival will be streamed through FloTrack.
Idaho had a great opening weekend at the 13
th Annual Sam Adams Classic in Spokane, with five athletes moving into the top-five in the Big Sky in their respective events.
Zachary Short posted the top shot put mark of the season for the conference at 18.23 meters (59-9.75). The toss also moves him into the top-10 in the West region at number nine, and 19
th in the country. Short also sits in fifth in the conference in the discus after throwing 48.53 meters (159-3.00) over the weekend.
Austin Beyer sits in third in the conference in the javelin with a throw of 59.59 meters (195-6.00), while
Makenna Behrens is fourth in the event on the women's side at 40.21 meters (131-11.00).
Hannah Ringel (shot put) and
Quinn Mitchell (hammer throw) are ranked fifth in the Big Sky in their respective events.
