KAPALUA, Hawaii- Idaho women's golf placed 10th at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Hawaii on the island of Maui. The Vandals were led by junior
Sophie Hausmann, who used a 2-under 70 to vault up the leaderboard in Wednesday's final round. Idaho finished the tournament at 52-over (916), carding a 300 Wednesday, in the final round for its best team score of the three-day event.
Hausmann, who posted just two birdies in the first 36 holes, leapt 25 spots on the final day behind six birdies. She climbed from fighting for at top-50 finish to start the day, to her ninth top-30 finish in as many tournaments this season and sixth top-20 showing.
"Sophie fought her way up the leaderboard today with strong golf course management and solid putting inside of 10 feet," said head coach
Lisa Johnson. "We saw great improvement by the team to finish out our regular season."
Michelle Kim led the Vandals in the first two rounds, shooting 75 each time out.
Idaho raced past three teams in the final round to finish in 10th.
The Anuenue Spring Break Classic was Idaho's final competition before the Big Sky Conference Championships next month. The tournament is set for April 20-22, at Boulder Creek Golf Club near Las Vegas.
"We are looking forward to some much-needed time off to focus on school," Johnson said. "Next week, our preparations for the conference tournament begins."
