Track and field earns academic distinction

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honored the University of Idaho men's and women's track and field teams on Wednesday with its Division I All-Academic Team honor.

The Idaho men accumulated a composite 3.13 grade point average, which was the best among men's track and field teams in the Western Athletic Conference in 2010. The women's team posted a 3.25 team GPA, which was the second-highest in the conference. Additionally, nine Idaho student-athletes earned individual USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic honors.

To be honored with the award, a team must hold a cumulative GPA of a least 3.0. The USTFCCCA honored 73 men's teams and 151 women's teams in 2010.
