Perry adds men's basketball assistant

Brynjar Brynjarsson has joined the University of Idaho men's basketball staff as an assistant to coach Leonard Perry.

Brynjarsson replaces Jason Ficca, who has resigned in order to pursue other ventures.

Brynjarsson's and Perry's relationship dates to Perry's days as an assistant at Iowa State University when Brynjarsson was the film coordinator for the Cyclones for two seasons. After leaving Iowa State, Brynjarsson spent one season as an assistant coach at Marshalltown (Iowa) Community College.

Brynjarsson earned a degree in business management from Luther College, where he played basketball and was the team's MVP, in 1998. He was a two-year starter at Iowa Lakes Community College prior to transferring to Luther. He is a 1994 graduate of Iowa City West High School where, at the time, he was the school's all-time leading scorer.
