FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Seniors Simon Stewart and Angela Whyte were honored as All-Americans after their performances at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Stewart qualified for the weight throw with a distance of 66 feet, 4 inches in early February. The throw was just enough to get Stewart into the field of 17 as the final competitor.
Stewart's first throw at the championships was a season best mark of 67-10?Ľ. The mark was strong enough to put Stewart into the finals in fifth. In the finals, Stewart was unable to improve on his first throw of the day and finished in eighth and was honored as an all-American. Stewart will compete in the shot put tomorrow.
Whyte qualified for the 60-meter hurdles with the second fastest time in the country at 8.01 seconds.
