Men's basketball signs sharp-shooting Mike Hall

MOSCOW, Idaho ? The backcourt of the University of Idaho men's basketball team went to another level with the announced signing of sharp-shooting Mike Hall.

Hall, a McDonald's All-American nominee in high school, hit 163 3-point field goals in 52 games at the Junior College level. He shot a combined 48-percent from beyond the arc in two seasons and, as a freshmen at Cincinnati State Tech, hit 82-of-133 (.609) 3-pointers to lead the National Junior College Athletic Association.

“Obviously we are thrilled by Mike's ability to make baskets from behind the 3-point arc, but he is not a one-dimensional player,” Idaho coach George Pfeifer said. “To his shooting capability he adds the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He is also very quick and moves well away from the ball. He has good handles, good instincts and he plays very hard. He knows how to play.”

The 6-foot shooting guard recently helped Lon Morris College to a sixth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament and earned All-Tournament honors with 18.8 points per game. He shot 19-of-42 (.452) from the 3-point arc in the tournament, including an opening round 9-of-12 performance.

At Cincinnati State, Hall earned Freshman of the Year honors while averaged 17.3 points and 3.4 assists per game. He was an Ohio Community College Athletic Conference first team all-conference selection and helped led the Surge to a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.

At Troy (Ohio) High School, Hall earned first team all-conference and all-state honors during his junior and senior years and was a second team all-state and first team all-Southwest District selection as a senior. He also was a third team all-state selection as a junior and ended his career at Troy High School as the second all-time leading scorer behind his brother.

Hall is the second 2007 NJCAA All-Tournament selection to sign with the Vandals this week.
